As per Republic Act 9292 the ECE profession used to be called Electronics and Communications Engineer will now be updated to Electronics Engineer but the acronym ECE will remain.(Just in case you don't know)
If you haven't converted yet and would like to do the conversion now, please follow these steps:
1. Go to the nearest PRC office ( If you are in Mindanao, that would be Cagayan de oro City)
2. Bring the following:
a. Photocopy of Valid PRC ID
b. Board Certificate
c. Photocopy of Valid IECEP ID
d. Two (2) pcs passport size picture with nametag & white background
e. Registration fee of P600
Notes:
If you lost your old PRC ID, prepare an affidavit of loss notarized by an attorney.
If your IECEP membership has expired, you have to renew it by going to the nearest IECEP office. It's in MPSC if you are in Cagayan de Oro.
For the pictures, there is a "Rush ID center" inside the PRC office in CDO.
Although the registration is only P600, prepare more. A lot more. There are other charges such as late renewal, fees, ....
3. You will be asked to fill up some forms and sign a lot of them. Be patient.
It takes time to line up.
4.Wait for months for your new ID.
The Problem:
It takes time for them to process. I have done the conversion in January 2008 and until now its not done!!
